Summer Arts Camp at Richview Library
July 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2015
The Kreativ U-turn team is very proud to announce the culmination of its first summer day camp program! The camp, which ran the week of July 6-10, was a huge success. Directed by Milkweed member Amy Capern and facilitated by KUT emerging artists, Alana, Khadija, Evan, and Lisa, this program is the very first full-week program that the KUT project has run.
Participants were lead through a week of engaging creative activities. The first two days focused on delivering the Milkweed Collective’s Exploring Creativity in Depth™ program. Using the drawings produced from the ECiD, participants were prompted to create stories, using their pictures and puppets. On the third day, participants turned their stories into one large collaborative story, which was then turned into a dramatic performance piece. The participants created the the set and script for their story together. On Friday, a performance of the play for parents and guests concluded the program.
Parents and participants alike were very pleased with the program. Due to the program’s huge success, the KUT team is looking into providing future programming beyond the summer months, as well as collaborating with other community-building initiatives.
