Richview Library Planning Day
Monday July 6 to Friday July 10, 2015
A few emerging artists from the team joined mentor, Amy Capern, at one of Etobicoke's finest libraries on June 18th, 2015. Lisa, Khadija, Alana, and Evan were introduced to the facility and the library's team in preparation to planning. With a grand space to work in and with, in the newly renovated Richview's Children's Library, the team was excited. Making schedules and lists of materials that will be used, the team created a fully structured week of creation, which would allow kids to do what they desired in the world of creation; whether building a set, making props, building the story, writing lines, creating a new language, the team was determined to allow the children with a slew of options.
The first two days of camp will introduce campers to the Exploring Creativity in Depth™ program. They will create pastel drawings, witness a Show n’ Tell by emerging artists and discuss their work while offering insight and inspiration for opening creative abilities, as well as a warm up to break the ice between each other, and begin to build skills for the week ahead.
The children will the take inspiration from the pieces and build a story based on the Exploring Creativity in Depth™ program. After choosing three locations, the children are sent off to build these sets.
On the final 2 days of camp, the children will be building the set, the props, the story, creating lines for themselves, as well as sound and set pieces.
At the end of the final day, families and people in the library are welcomed to witness the final product; a performance. This will showcase all the work that they have accomplished in just one week.
